A CLEAR PICTURE OF FRESHNESS
Checks run at your selected interval while this page is visible. New source values arrive less often. All times use Canary Islands time.

Hover or tap the light-blue dot to inspect a value. Touch and drag to another time. Keyboard: ← / → moves by the selected display interval (Home / End for the bounds). Every intermediate 15-minute point is labelled as interpolated; missing source values remain gaps.

INSIDE THE INDICATOR
Elemental percentages refer to a pure substance. Aerosol component shares require a laboratory sample; they are not inferred from today’s model concentration. PM2.5 is included within PM10, and dust can overlap with both. Do not add these concentrations together.
GROUND MEASUREMENTS
The official network provides hourly measurements. Its automated API requires a token. Check the publication date on station pages: an old reading is not a current measurement.
Concentrations: PM2.5, PM10, NO₂, O₃, SO₂, CO, formaldehyde, methane and dust are in micrograms per cubic metre (μg/m³). Dust is a separate model variable; do not add it to particulate values. The European AQI is dimensionless.
EU AQI: Good 0–20 · Fair >20–40 · Moderate >40–60 · Poor >60–80 · Very poor >80–100 · Extremely poor >100. The overall index is the highest of the five sub-indices for PM2.5, PM10, NO₂, O₃ and SO₂. CO, formaldehyde, methane and dust have no separate European AQI band here. The selector covers nine air-pollution and atmospheric indicators; their risks depend on concentration and exposure. Methane is shown as a greenhouse-gas indicator and does not contribute to the European AQI.
Timing: Choose automatic checks every 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or turn them off. Checks run while the page is visible and resume with an immediate check when you return to an overdue tab. The viewing window spans 4 hours to 1 year; the default display interval is 15 minutes, with linear interpolation between adjacent hourly API values. This does not add observations or improve the source model resolution. Choose 1 hour to inspect source values only. Interpolation stops at missing values; no extrapolation is used. Missing values are gaps, never zero. Comparisons use a shared Canary Islands time axis, including for locations in other time zones. A year is the preceding calendar year. Historical coverage can vary by location and agent; the chart reports available values. The complete display-value table is paginated, and each row identifies hourly source values or interpolated estimates. Earlier values are archived model forecasts, not validated monitoring-station history. CAMS global has a three-hour native output interval and updates its forecasts about every 12 hours; the API supplies hourly values. The “model valid at” time is not a model run or sensor measurement timestamp. Temporary network and server failures are retried automatically, with no more than three location requests at once. Only failed locations show warnings after retries; previously fetched values remain visible. Values more than two hours old are flagged.
